HEAD COACH - Mike HruskaCoach Mike

  • Swim Coaching/Lesson teaching experience - Head Coach, Mt. Horeb Gators. Head Age Group Coach, Verona Aquatic Club. I have also taught lessons with the Little Strokes Swim Academy, and coached and taught with the Nakoma Orangeheads.
  • Most exciting/fun swimming experience - My senior year of high school I was a part of a very fast and exciting all breaststroke relay. We set the meet record by several seconds and won by more than that, but what was really special was that it was with my brother and Coach AJ.
  • What motivates Mike to swim - I swam for several reasons: The feeling of working hard to better myself, the goals that were set everyday, and the friendships that were made. These are what I still cherish about swimming.

  • Most exciting/fun swimming experience - Setting the Middleton Relay Meet record in the 300 yard Breaststroke relay with Mike Hruska, Chris Hruska, and Josh Harriman.
  • What motivates AJ to swim - The sense of accomplishment whenever I achieved a new best time, as well as the camaraderie among friends I saw every day.

  • Most exciting/fun swimming experience - Getting to anchor the 200 med relay my sophomore year in high school at the conference meet, and touching out our rival relay for the win!
  • What motivates Danny to swim - I have been going to my siblings swim meets since I was in diapers, so my parents decided to put me in it too. Then I got to high school and realized I loved it so much I couldn't stop!

  • Swim Coaching/Lesson teaching experience - I have been swimming competitively since the age of five and swam for Ridgewood outdoor pool in Madison, Badger Aquatics Club and Monona Grove Madison. I also swam for my high school team and competed at the state level all four years. This will also be my third year teaching lessons here at the Mount Horeb Family Aquatic Center.
  • Most exciting/fun swimming experience - Jumping into the pool after a victory at All-City with Ridgewood Pool
  • What motivates Mackenzie to swim - I have been around swimming my entire life and have always had a passion for it. I love the feeling of getting a best time and the discipline and positive values that this sport teaches its participants.

Kyle Rassmussen:

  • Swim Coaching/Lesson teaching experience - This will be my 5th year and an assistant coach for the Mount Horeb Gators.
  • Most exciting/fun swimming experience - My most exciting swimming experience was taking 4th place in the senior 200 breast at the USA State Championship meet last summer. I have also had many great experiences swimming in the Tri-County Championship swim meets.
  • What motivates Kyle to swim - There are many things that motivate me to swim. What motivates me the most is the drive to get better. I love the sport of swimming and want to be the best I can be.

Coaching Trainees

Alli Wenman:Alli will be a sophomore in the fall at Edgewood High School. Alli has been part of the Gators for nine (wonderful!) years. Alli helped with the fall, winter, and spring sessions in Verona as well as helped Coach Betsey last summer. Alli also swam for Edgewood’s swim team last fall. Alli has a sister that also swims with the Gators.

Claire Cole:Claire will be a junior next fall at Mt. Horeb High School. Claire is swimming with VAC for her first year. Claire has been part of the Gators for many years. Claire helped with the fall, winter, and spring sessions in Verona as well as helped Coach Betsey last summer. Claire has two brothers who also swim with the Gators.
