Welcome to the Gator web site. The Mount Horeb Gators is a summer swim team who competes in the Tri-County league during the months of June and July. The Gators is a performance- based team with the goal of improving swimmers times by improving the technique and condition of the swimmer. Showing respect and leading by example is an expectation of every swimmer on our team.  Swim team is a unique team in the fact that our members range in age from six to 18.  To find out more about us, keep browsing. We welcome all new swimmers to give us a try!

Important information is posted on the bulletin board or on the equipment room doors at the Mt. Horeb Pool, and on our web site.  Postings on the equipment room doors are the primary method of communicating information to team members during the summer. Swimmers and their parents should check this area daily for announcements. Sign in sheets for the meets and sing up sheets for Monday socials are also posted on the equipment room doors. Weekly newsletters, meet line-ups, meet results, and other practice information will be posted on the web site.

Other updates will be communicated to participating families via e-mail.  Take advantage of this important communication tool.  Send your e-mail address to John Pyeatt here

We need your help! This is a parent run organization. Typically it takes approximately 34 parents to run a home meet. Parents also play a vital role in preparing the pool for every practice. We are a self-sustaining financial organization through participation fees, money made from hosting the Conference Swim Meet, fundraisers, and concessions at home swim meets.  We could not be a team without cooperation from all families participating on our team.  Please volunteer in any way you can.

Monday Night Socials are held each week after a dual swim meet. The Social Committee will organize a sign up sheet for a “theamed treat” to be shared.  The socials take place at the shelter house by the pool from 7:15 – 8:15 pm. The coaches will use this time to recognize achievements from the prior week’s meet and practices. Please bring your family.  This is a great time to relax with other swim team families.

Swim apparel can be purchased at a discount at Simply Swimming, 6108 Mineral Point Road, Madison. Team suits and caps are encouraged, as they promote team spirit.  Swim caps and other Gator apparel are available through the team. Goggles and fins are required for practices.

Traveling to away meets is required. Meets rotate home/away every other year.  To reach away meets, swimmers meet at the Mt. Horeb pool and ride the bus as a team. It is the responsibility of the parents, prior to the swim meet, to arrange transportation home. Maps to every pool where the Gators compete are included in the back of the Gators handbook.

The Annual Banquet is held at the end of the season and is the last swim team event of the summer season.  The banquet is held at the shelter house by the pool. The swim team provides the beverages and each family is requested to bring a dish to pass. After the meal, all awards from the Conference Swim Meet and end-of-the-season awards are handed out. After the awards, all swimmers are invited to go swim at the pool for fun and games.  All parents are asked to stay for a parent meeting to elect new commission members for the next season and discuss any other important business.
